What is KSGFOA?

KSGFOA is the Kansas Government Finance Officers Association, the state chapter of the national Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). It was founded in 1999 and serves more than 200 professionals across the state of Kansas from state, county, and city governments: school districts, colleges, universities, special districts, and private firms.

KSGFOA was established as a nonprofit organization to promote and foster excellence in governmental financial management through education programs, technical referral network and information concerning policies that may affect the finance professional.

The board meets quarterly at an agreed upon central location, traditionally in Emporia.  The appointed board member will begin their term in January and will be required to attend the January board meeting.  The board provides leadership, oversight, and decisions around: conference planning; education offerings, membership outreach and marketing; information/announcement development; and all other business of the Kansas Government Finance Officers Association.  Wichita State University provides planning and staff support services to the board.  The Board leads the activities of the Strategic Plan and will continue to provide direction on how to enhance the Association.  Board members are asked to attend the Annual Conference in October in Olathe, Kansas (2020).  Board members will also receive emails in between board meetings to provide feedback and input on items that may come up.

If you are interested in applying for a 2-year 2022 board position, please submit an application to Paula Downs by August 20, 2021.  All applications will be reviewed by the board and a board member selected in October during the Annual Business Meeting.
